First Family Hike to Battle Creek Falls - March 11, 2017
Today we went on our first ever family hike! We decided to hike to Battle Creek Falls in Pleasant Grove, UT. It was a beautiful Saturday with temperatures in the sixties, so we knew we had to take advantage of it and get out of the house.
When we arrived at the trailhead, the parking lot was packed with people who had the same idea as us to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather. We knew we needed to get something to carry Channing in for the hike, so the night before we got the Ergobaby 360 baby carrier to try out. She definitely did not seem to like it at first, and she basically cried the entire way to the water fall. Once we got to the water fall, we took her out and then she calmed down and just relaxed with Deanna and I as we just enjoyed spending time together watching the beautiful water fall, and watching people repel down the side of it.
After a while we decided to head back as it was getting close to sunset. On the way back Channing seemed to like the carrier better and ended up falling asleep in it on the walk back to the car. We got to enjoy some amazing views on the way back down as the sun was setting more and more.
When we made it back to the beginning of the trail head, we had a great view looking out over the valley and Utah Lake as the sun was sinking behind the mountains to the west.
Deanna and I ended our little outing by getting drinks from Sonic, and then we made our way back home. Overall, it was a great time and I would say it was a successful first family adventure. We are definitely looking forward to doing things like this more often as we get more into warmer weather. Stay tuned for future documents of our family adventures!
